So after the heavy rainfall tonight and tomorrow, the weekend should be okay for most. We have a lot of dynamics in play with a passing cold front, a weak area of low pressure in the Atlantic and a cold front being dragged through by a low pressure system over the northern Great Lakes. The system in the Atlantic actually removed a lot of moisture from the atmosphere with the drier air it brought down from Canada. As a result, the weekend has trended to look much better than modeled earlier in the week. Let’s break each day down:
Friday high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s. Remnant overnight rainfall could stick around for the morning but eventually things should clear. It’s TBD whether that will be by afternoon or by evening thanks to a very slow moving front. Winds should be light out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey with maybe the NNJ elevations dipping into the 50s.
Saturday high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s. Skies should be mostly sunny for western New Jersey and partly sunny for eastern New Jersey. Again, the front might not make it far enough to push all clouds and precipitation east of the coast. With that said, there is a small chance that skies could be overcast with a few sprinkles along coastal regions. Western NJ has the best shot of all sun. Winds should be light out of the N/NE. Overnight lows should fall into the 60s for most of New Jersey with maybe the NNJ elevations dipping into the 50s.
Sunday high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s. Skies should be mostly sunny for morning beach hours through noon but watch out for isolated-scattered showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon-evening hours. Isolated to scattered showers are then possible during evening-overnight hours. Should be hit-or-miss. Winds should be light out of the NE. Overnight lows should fall into the low-70s along the coast and 60s inland.
An early look at next week indicates mostly sunny days with highs in the lower-80s. Isolated PM storms are always a possibility on such days.
