Unsettled Weekend Expected (May 20-22)
Friday looks great! Saturday and Sunday not so much. Let’s break it down:
Friday (May 20) high temperatures should reach the 70s for most. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 80 reached away from the ocean in CNJ/SNJ and only the upper-60s along the coast. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s as light rain is possible overnight.
Saturday (May 21) high temperatures should reach the 60s for most (maybe just the upper-50s along the coast). Skies should be mostly cloudy. Rainfall is expected and could be moderate-to-heavy at times. Winds should be breezy out of the E/NE. Some coastal flooding is possible for barrier islands and back bays but nothing crazy. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s (upper-40s for NNJ elevations) as rain slowly tapers off.
Sunday (May 22) high temperatures should reach about 70 statewide. The entire day is not a wash. It should actually start pretty nice. The chance for rain arrives in the afternoon-evening hours from instability-driven showers and possibly a few thunderstorms. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s (upper-40s for NNJ elevations).
An early look at next week indicates warmer temperatures in the 70s and 80s with mixed sun and clouds. Not seeing any rain until the Memorial Day Weekend 8o. That’s far away though and should be taken with the grain of salt until long-range guidance transitions into the mid-range. Let’s give it until early next week to make a more confident call on the weekend.
A reminder that I’ll be on the Tommy G Show tomorrow for 2 hours from 3PM-5PM. While some of my discussion will be weather-related, I’m actually just looking to have some fun and kick it with Tommy about whatever. I’ll post a thread for comments while I’m on. You can listen here or click the image below. You can also listen via the TuneIn app (search for the Tommy G Show) or on 1450AM radio. Hope you can make it! Otherwise, have a great weekend and be safe! JC
