Discussion: The gloomy and muggy theme should continue into Tuesday thanks to a warm sector giving way to a cold front. Monday into Tuesday have a good chance for rain and storms given the upper level dynamics. Starting Tuesday night, NJ will dry out and become very pleasant to end the week/start the weekend. Wednesday through at least Friday looks fantastic and Saturday is starting to look the same. During this time, an area of high pressure will slowly approach and crawl through the Mid-Atlantic US. Model guidance is starting to see Sunday-Monday as another unsettled transition period with the good stuff returning after that.
Monday (Sept 12) high temperatures should reach near-80 for most areas. Skies should be mainly cloudy like how Sunday was. Gloomy and humid. Some isolated showers around during AM hours and maybe some thunderstorms during PM hours. Winds should be light out of the S/SE. Overnight lows should fall into the mid-60s for most areas as rain/storm chances persist into Tuesday.
Tuesday (Sept 13) high temperatures should reach near-80 again. Skies should start mostly cloudy with a humid feel. More rain is possible but likely during AM hours. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should range from 55-65 from elevations to coasts as NJ dries out.
Wednesday (Sept 14) high temperatures should reach near-80 but with mostly sunny skies and a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should again range from 50-65 from elevations to coasts.
Thursday (Sept 15) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to upper-50s from elevations to coasts.
Friday (Sept 16) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s for most areas.
An early look at the weekend indicates more dry and pleasant conditions at least to start. We might be looking at another cloudy/rainy end to the weekend/start of the following week. Let’s see how it looks in a few days. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
