Unsettled Conditions Expected (Aug 10-12)
Discussion: A cold front will be pushing through Friday night and should come to rest either right over or just off the SENJ coast. This should enhance rain possibilities for Saturday as a weak area of low pressure traverses the stalled front. Most of this should push offshore for Sunday but isolated showers and thunderstorms cannot be taken off the table for Sunday. Sunday looks much better for outdoor stuff than Saturday at the moment. Even Saturday doesn’t look like a complete washout but much more full of nuisance than Sunday. Next week we hopefully endure the last week of elevated humidity and unsettled conditions. Whether that moves out just before or just after next weekend is still uncertain.
Friday (Aug 10) high temperatures should reach into the 80s for most. Interior CNJ/SNJ has the best shot to break 90. Skies should be partly sunny with a small chance of a PM shower or thunderstorm (mainly for points NW). Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-60s to lower-70s NNJ to SNJ.
Saturday (Aug 11) high temperatures should reach into the 70s for most. Some parts of SNJ could break 80. Skies should be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible at any time. Winds should be light out of the N/NE. Overnight lows should range from lower-60s to near-70 NNJ to SNJ.
Sunday (Aug 12) high temperatures should range from mid-70s to mid-80s NNJ to SNJ. Skies should be partly-to-mostly cloudy (clearer for NWNJ and cloudier for SENJ). Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible but not as unsettled as Saturday. Winds should be light out of the E/SE for most. NNJ might see more of a N/NE wind direction. Overnight lows should range from mid-60s to lower-70s NNJ to SNJ.
An early look at next week indicates daily high temperatures in the 80s with elevated levels of humidity. More unsettled conditions but hopefully the unsettled and humid pattern will be coming to rest by the weekend. Let’s take another look on Sunday. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
