Discussion: There’s not much to speak about in the upper levels other than a semi-zonal pattern of baby troughs and ridges kissing the Mid-Atlantic. The deepest trough is Sunday-Wednesday which should produce cooler conditions at the surface (highs in the 50s). Today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) should reach onto the 60s ahead of the approaching Saturday PM cold front. We’re in a “less cooler” warm sector until then which should result in pleasant conditions at the surface. Then we chill down Sunday-Wednesday until a larger ridge likely builds next Wednesday-forward which will bring surface temps back up into the 60s and 70s for the second half of next week. The coastal plain has been finished with snow chances for a while. Snow for the NWNJ elevations is now becoming extremely anomalous as late-April sun angle and climatology continue to build in statewide. The focus for any weather of safety impact is now towards severe thunderstorm potential not snow.
Friday (April 15) high temperatures have peaked in the 60s with plenty of sunshine. A pleasant day for April. Winds will remain light-to-breezy out of the W/SW tonight as overnight lows bottom-out in the 50s statewide.
Saturday (April 16) high temperatures should reach into the 60s again (like Friday) for most areas. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with at least some scattered showers possible during PM hours, possibly thunderstorms. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s for most areas.
Sunday (April 17) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 50s. A cooler day than Friday and Saturday. A cool day for Easter. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be breezy, possibly gusty at times, out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from 30s to 40s from N to S.
An early look at next week indicates the cooler pattern (highs capped in the 50s) lasting through about Wednesday. Then back to 60s and 70s Thursday-beyond. The entire week looks unsettled with spring showers possible any day, especially during late-afternoon/early-evening hours.
