Discussion: A trough is departing the E US into the Atlantic Ocean. A week ridge will replace the trough by Wednesday-Thursday before 500mb heights fall again for the weekend. At the surface this means high pressure controlling most of the E US this week. Today and Tuesday will remain cool as the front-side of anticyclonic flow transitions to a very stable air mass once the high is overhead of NJ. Wednesday and Thursday should feel mild as the back-side of the high draws S flow back over NJ. On Friday a frontal passage should bring rain along the very back of the high’s influence. That should all push through by Friday afternoon yielding a cool but dry weekend. There are currently no major storm signals on the near-horizon.
Monday (Oct 29) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s for most. Skies should start mostly cloudy but give way to at least partly sunny conditions. Winds should be breezy out of the W. Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to mid-40s NNJ to SNJ.
Tuesday (Oct 30) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s for most. Skies should start mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to mid-40s NNJ to SNJ.
Wednesday (Oct 31) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 60s for most. Skies should feature mixed sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the S/SW, perhaps breezy at times for coastal regions. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s statewide.
Thursday (Nov 1) high temperatures should reach the upper-60s/lower-70s for most. Interior CNJ/SNJ could reach the mid-70s. Skies should be partly sunny. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should fall to upper-50s/lower-60s statewide.
Friday (Nov 2) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 60s for most. Skies should be mostly cloudy with periods of rain possible. The first half of the day looks rainier than the second half. As of right now most rain ends by late-morning/early-afternoon. Winds should be light out of the S. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s for most with coastal regions hanging near-50.
An early look at the weekend indicates highs in the 50s lows in the 30s/40s under a mixed bag of sun/stars and clouds. Friday looks like the only rain possibility for the entire weekend. Let’s take another look in a few days. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
