Nasty Start. Improvement Expected Sunday

Discussion: Isn’t it funny how you can go all of March without wintry precipitation (most areas) and then have to deal with some in April? It’s downright nasty outside right now. Cold and rainy and that should be the case overnight into much of Saturday. On Sunday we should warm up some which should feel amazing after this current stuff. A trough this weekend, a ridge to start next week, and another trough to bring a colder Wed-Thurs are the culprits for the roller coaster temps the next week or so.

Forecast

Friday (April 11) high temperatures will remain in the 40s as marine influence and rain continue overnight. Winds should remain light-to-breezy out of the E (off the 45-48 degree ocean). Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to lower-40s NNJ to SNJ with mixed precip possible for N areas at times but little-to-no accumulations expected outside of a trace in the higher NWNJ elevations.

Saturday (April 12) high temperatures should again max out in the 40s with a wet start. Improvement is expected by PM hours. Winds should switch to the N/NW and be breezy/gusty at times. Overnight lows should hover around 40 statewide.

Sunday (April 13) high temperatures should get up closer to 60 and start a milder stretch. Some areas might hang closer to 55 but skies should improve and the sun should return. Winds should remain breezy out of the NW. Overnight lows should fall back to the 35-45 range.

An early look at next week (April 14-18) indicates milder temperatures sustaining for the most part (50s and lower-60s). Wednesday looks to be the coldest day where highs might just break 50. A little bit of rain showing later in the week leading into the weekend. Let’s take another look in a few days. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
