Muggy Unsettled Weekend Expected (Aug 12-14)
High pressure over Bermuda will keep a persistent SW flow over New Jersey this weekend. That means hazy, hot and humid weather with scattered rain and storms. Let’s break it down…
Friday (Aug 12) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 90s statewide. Skies should be mixed and humid. Isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 70s for most and possibly only 80 for the coast.
Saturday (Aug 13) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 90s statewide. Should be very similar to Friday. Skies should be mixed and humid. Isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 70s for most and possibly only 80 for the coast.
Sunday (Aug 14) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 90s statewide. Should be another similar day to Friday/Saturday. Skies should be mixed and humid. Isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 70s statewide.
Marine: Water temperatures along the NJ beaches are now up to the mid-to-upper 70s. Wave heights should be 1-3/2-4 feet throughout the weekend.
Tropics: Tropics are quiet but I’ll monitor anything that forms.
Stargazing: The moon is favorable for minimal light pollution this weekend which would normally be good for the meteor shower. However, clouds and haze are possible which could limit visibility.
An early look at the week indicates more muggy and unsettled weather to start followed by a cold frontal passage by Tuesday. That should improve conditions for mid-week forward. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
