This bizarre pattern that we’ve been in is about to improve. The weekend could start with lingering showers but high pressure will eventually invade from the N/NW and boot everything out of the region. Let’s break it down:
Friday should top out in the lower-70s statewide. If you cut New Jersey in half at I-195, NNJ should see sunshine and dry conditions while SNJ remains subject to scattered clouds and light rain showers. Winds should be light out of the NW for most and possibly a bit breezy along the coast. Overnight lows should fall into the upper-50s.
Saturday should break 80 for most of the state. NNJ should remain mostly sunny and dry while SNJ has a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially during afternoon-early evening hours. Otherwise most will see nice conditions. Winds should remain light and steady out of the NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s for most of New Jersey and possibly upper-40s for the higher elevations of NWNJ. Moonlit sky and stars FWIW. I care!
Sunday should reach the mid-70s for high temperatures away from the immediate coast. If onshore flow is strong enough, it will hold temperatures in the lower-60s within a few miles of the ocean. If the onshore flow is weaker then it will be less of an issue with temps reaching 70 along the shore. For the rest of the state, arguably the nicest day of the year so far. Winds should be light out of the SE for most but again, possibly breezy along the coast. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s statewide with light showers possible heading into Monday AM.
Next week should start rainy and stormy but then turn dry and sunny with the return of summer warmth. Wouldn’t be surprised to see interior New Jersey in the 90s mid-week with 70s and 80s to the coast.
