Mostly Nice and Not as Hot
Discussion: With the exception of the immediate coasts, most New Jersey areas are into the 80s and even some flirting with 90. Today’s the last of the above-average temperature wave. A weak disturbance should approach with clouds and rain for at least SNJ on Saturday morning/early afternoon. It might creep up into CNJ but I am leaning mostly SNJ. NNJ just sun and clouds. The upper levels are fairly mundane with no pronounced features. Mostly higher geopotential heights with the upper-jet nearby other than a midweek fast moving trough nose. Most of next week looks dry with great spring conditions. We could see a more robust frontal system pass through at some point next weekend. Otherwise not much to discuss. A little rain for SNJ Saturday morning/early afternoon otherwise more great spring conditions.
Friday (May 12) high temperatures are into the 80s for all areas except the immediate ECNJ/SENJ coasts. Some interior spots might flirt with 90 while the coasts hang in the 70s or less. Skies are sunny and the feeling is warm, even hot with bit of humidity. Winds are light out of the SW. Overnight lows should range from 55-65 from elevations to coasts as rain approaches mainly for SNJ on Saturday.
Saturday (May 13) high temperatures should only make it into the 70s for most areas. Immediate coastal areas likely hanging in the 60s. Skies and conditions should vary from mixed sun and clouds for NNJ to clouds and rain for SNJ. CNJ could go either way but I’m currently leaning more towards SNJ only for rain. Any rainfall for SNJ (maybe CNJ) should clear by afternoon. Conditions should then improve for afternoon-forward for all of NJ. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should range from 45-55 from elevations to coasts with a little bit of breeze.
Sunday (May 14) high temperatures should reach just into the 70s for most areas. Skies should be mixed with more sun than clouds. A pleasant feeling day with lower humidity. Winds should be light out of the N. Overnight lows should range from 45-55 from elevations to coasts.
An early look at next week indicates warmer temps continuing to build through Tuesday. Wednesday-forward then looks like upper-60s and 70s (more beautiful spring conditions but a cooldown from Tuesday). Most of the week looks dry. Next thunderstorm outbreak potential wouldn’t be until next Saturday but that’s a bit aways. Let’s check back in a few days. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
