Mixed Weekend Weather Expected (Aug 15-17)
High pressure will be in control of the region through at least Saturday night. This will keep it cool and comfortable with little to no chance of rain. Sunday, however, will likely see impacts from a low pressure disturbance moving through the northern part of our coverage region. Let’s break each day down:
Today’s highs should fail to escape the 70s. Winds should be 5-10mph out of the NW with mostly sunny and dry conditions. Lows will then easily fall into the 50s tonight.
On Saturday, winds will remain light and slowly rock from NW to SW (from morning to evening). This will keep it sunny, pleasant and dry but about 5 degrees warmer than Friday. Highs should just break 80 statewide and fall to about 60 Saturday night.
Sunday will be an interesting setup as high pressure to our south interacts with low pressure passing through to our north. This will cause a westerly flow of 5-15mph winds that will allow clouds, showers, and possibly even a few storms to filter in from the NW. Short-range model guidance tomorrow will have a much better handle on timing. Highs should reach the low-to-mid 80s with overnight lows dropping back to around 60. An early look at next week indicates 80s and humidity.
