Mixed Weather Expected (Sept 25-27)

sun and rain

Low pressure will crawl up the coast this weekend as high pressure first blocks then departs into the ocean. What does this mean?

Friday high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s statewide. Skies should feature a mixed bag of sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the E/NE for inland/elevations but stiff and gusty along the coast. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s (NWNJ) to mid-60s (SENJ).

Saturday high temperatures should reach the lower-70s statewide. NWNJ should see better skies than SENJ but most should remain dry aside from some light sprinkles in extreme SNJ/Coast. Winds should be light out of the E/NE for inland/elevations but stiff and gusty along the coast. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s (NWNJ) to mid-60s (SENJ) as rain associated with the coastal low pressure disturbance approaches from the S/Ocean.

Sunday high temperatures should top out around 70 statewide. Skies should vary from partly cloudy in NWNJ to clouds and rain for SENJ. Winds should be light out of the E/NE for inland/elevations but much stronger along the shore. 30-40mph gusts are not out of the question along the immediate coast. Overnight lows should range from 50s (NWNJ) to mid-60s (SENJ).

An early look at next week indicates that high pressure to our north will finally depart into the Atlantic Ocean, allowing the coastal low to move up and out, bringing light rain to most of New Jersey for at least Monday. Conditions should clear by mid-week as temperatures remain cooler and comfortable.
