Discussion: Most of NJ cooled down pretty fast after sunset this evening. I’m seeing many locations in the 30s (elevations, interior, pine barrens, etc) but some are holding in the upper-40s/lower-50s still…mostly along the SENJ coast and near the I-95 corridor. Surface winds should pick up out of the E soon which will moderate temperatures milder for tomorrow. We should stay mild for both Monday and Tuesday with the surface E flow/850mb S flow. Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the week. Then the low will move out and colder northerly winds will be reinforced by high pressure to the W. Conditions should feel pretty falltastic for Wednesday and Thursday. A weak coastal disturbance could keep us cool, cloudy and wet on Friday. It might be late Saturday morning before that entirely clears SENJ. Saturday PM through Sunday and into next week looks like another solid cold shot. We’re talking highs failing to escape the 40s statewide and lows down into the 20s for many maybe even teens for NNJ elevations. Coastal regions would probably still hang near-freezing.
Monday (Nov 5) high temperatures should range from 50-60 NNJ to SNJ. Skies should be mostly cloudy with periods of rainfall likely between 7am and 7pm. Winds should be light out of the E away from the ocean. Immediate coastal areas could see breezier E winds, even gusty at times. Overnight lows should range from mid-40s to mid-50s NNJ to SNJ.
Tuesday (Nov 6) high temperatures should reach well into the 60s for most. Skies should be mostly cloudy with more rainfall likely and thunderstorms possible. Winds should be breezy-to-gusty out of the SE. Overnight lows should range from lower-40s to lower-50s NNJ to SNJ.
Wednesday (Nov 7) high temperatures should reach the upper-50s/lower-60s for most. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the W. Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to mid-40s NNJ to SNJ.
Thursday (Nov 8) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 50s for most. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall just below-freezing for NNJ elevations. The rest of the state should range from mid-30s to mid-40s NNJ to SNJ.
Friday (Nov 9) high temperatures should reach the upper-40s/lower-50s for most. Skies should be mostly cloudy. Periods of rainfall are possible. A cold rain. Winds should be light out of the SE. Overnight lows should fall to near freezing for NNJ elevations, 30s/40s for the rest of NJ.
An early look at the weekend indicates cool and clear conditions for most. The first half of Saturday looks transitional coming off Friday rain. The second half of Saturday through Sunday looks colder with slightly-below average temperatures. Let’s take another look in a few days. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
