Mixed Conditions (April 22-26)

Discussion: We have upper-level energy consolidating as it fizzles out over the OBX/Delmarva area region Monday. That should be just enough energy to power a small and weak coastal disturbance offshore. It’s really not a big deal but it could send some rain bands onshore Monday which is the only reason I’m mentioning it as a small chance. Otherwise precipitation would stay just offshore. Then we have a mostly-dry frontal passage Wednesday morning. Again just the chance for a few passing showers. Lastly late-Thursday night into Friday could feature periods of rain and embedded thunderstorms. The signal is not screaming severe weather like the past few events. Just typical run-of-mill spring Jersey rain and storms. The weekend looks pretty nice as of now…at least to start.

Monday (April 22) high temperatures should reach near-70 for most areas. ENJ/SENJ coastal areas could hang in the low-to-mid 60s. Skies should be partly-to-mostly sunny with a small chance of showers especially near the ENJ/SENJ coast. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should fall to near-50 statewide.

Tuesday (April 23) high temperatures should reach 80 in many locations. Coastal areas could hang cooler. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should fall into the mid-50s for most areas.

Wednesday (April 24) high temperatures should reach near-70 statewide. Skies should be partly sunny with a small chance of an isolated shower. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from near-40 to near-50 NNJ to SNJ.

Thursday (April 25) high temperatures should reach near-70 for most. Coastal areas could hang in the low-to-mid 60s. Skies should be partly sunny during the day. Rain and maybe a few boomers are possible overnight into Friday but it doesn’t look serious as of right now. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should fall to near-50 for most.

Friday (April 26) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 60s for most areas. Skies should start mostly cloudy with rain and thunderstorms possible. Conditions should improve through afternoon-evening hours. Winds should be light out of the W (unless locally affected by a thunderstorm). Overnight lows should range from near-40 to near-50.

An early look at the weekend indicates highs in the 60s with plenty of sunshine through Saturday. Sunday seems unsettled for now. Let’s take another look in a few days. Have a great week and please be safe! JC
