Mild Week Expected (Mar 7-11)
High pressure will set up between the SE US coast and Bermuda for the next few weeks. This will drive a pattern of southerly flow through our region—keeping temperatures mild as far as I can confidently see. Let’s break down Monday through Friday…
Monday (Mar 7) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s statewide. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 60 broken for interior CNJ/SNJ. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should range from 30s to 40s from NNJ elevations to the SNJ coast.
Tuesday (Mar 8) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 60s statewide. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 70 broken for interior CNJ/SNJ. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should only dip into the 40s statewide.
Wednesday (Mar 9) high temperatures should break 70 for most. NNJ elevations and the extreme SNJ coast could be held in the upper-60s due to elevation and ocean climatology influence. Interior CNJ/SNJ has a running shot at 80 but should at least see 75. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should have trouble dipping below 50 for most. NNJ elevations should dip into 40s.
Thursday (Mar 10) high temperatures should be very similar to Wednesday regarding temperatures and winds. Widespread 70s with a small shot at 80 for interior CNJ/SNJ with light SW flow. Skies should be partly sunny with isolated spring rain showers possible. Will have to keep an eye on the radar for any such instability-driven activity. Overnight lows should fail to dip below 50 statewide.
Friday (Mar 11) high temperatures should range from mid-60s to 70 statewide with mostly sunny skies. A few degrees cooler due to light NW flow taking over but still mild. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s statewide.
An early look at the weekend indicates more mild temperatures but not as warm as the middle of this week. We’re still talking highs in the 50s and 60s. A rainy period is possible towards the second half of the weekend heading into next week but let’s revisit that on ~Thursday. Have a great week and be safe! JC
