Mild Week Expected (Mar 21-25)
The week might start chilly but were going to moderate towards mild temperatures by mid-week and likely stay that way into the weekend. Last night’s snow storm played out exactly as I expected. It was a ghost storm of mostly white rain. A lot more snow fell in SENJ than actually stuck and most roads were fine this morning. Climatology wins this time of year in most wintry weather cases. I’ve seen snow showers in April before but hopefully that’s it until later this year. Let’s break the week down:
Monday (Mar 21) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 40s for most. 50 could be broken away from the ocean in SNJ/CNJ. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 20s for NNJ elevations and 30s for the rest of New Jersey.
Tuesday (Mar 22) high temperatures should reach the mid-50s for most. I could see interior CNJ/SNJ flirting with breaking 60. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s statewide.
Wednesday (Mar 23) high temperatures should reach the mid-60s for most. I could see interior CNJ/SNJ flirting with breaking 70. Skies should feature a mixed bag of sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s for most (maybe only 50s for SENJ).
Thursday (Mar 24) high temperatures should reach the mid-60s for most. I could again see interior CNJ/SNJ approaching/breaking 70. Skies should be mostly sunny for the lower 2/3 of New Jersey. Some clouds could build for NNJ. Winds should be light out of the S for most with possibly an E/SE sea breeze along the coast. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s for most (maybe only 50s for SENJ). Overnight rain showers are possible.
Friday (Mar 25) high temperatures should reach about 60 statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny with a small possibility of spring showers. Winds should be breezy out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 30s for most with maybe the immediate coast remaining in the 40s.
An early look at the weekend indicates high temperatures in the upper-50s/lower-60s as seasonably average temperatures are expected. As of now, it’s looking mainly dry but with some clouds around. Let’s revisit in a few days. Have a great week and be safe! JC
