Total high pressure domination for a beautiful late-summer weekend. Let’s break it down…
Friday high temperatures should reach the upper-70s and lower-80s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant dry and crisp feel. Winds should be light out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s inland and 60s along the coast.
Saturday high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 80s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny with a few friendly clouds. Winds should be light out of the SW as humidity begins to trickle back in. Overnight lows should drop into the 60s for most of New Jersey (50s for NNJ elevations).
Sunday high temperatures should reach the mid-80s for most of New Jersey with low-90s possible for interior urban areas along I-95 (Philly-Trenton). Skies should be mostly sunny but with some clouds at times and noticeably elevated humidity. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Let’s allow a small chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm, especially late-afternoon into overnight hours. With sinking air from high pressure dominance, instability will have a lot to overcome so the most likely scenario is just dry and sunny. Overnight lows should drop into the 60s for most of New Jersey (50s for NNJ elevations).
An early look at next week indicates a warm and humid start. No widespread rain is expected which should further contribute to drought concerns. Showers and thunderstorms could develop each day from diurnal instability but that’s not going bring the relief we’re looking for. Our only hope are remnants from Erika sliding up coast (not likely with ridge blocking) or a possible frontal passage after Labor Day Weekend.
