Long Beach Island’s Chowderfest should see gorgeous weather conditions this weekend. This family fun festival features live music, craft vendors, activities and unlimited Chowder tasting with the opportunity for each ticket holder to vote for their favorite red and white chowder. The event is nestled in Beach Haven, New Jersey surrounded by beautiful views of the bay and plenty of year-end discounted shopping. For all event details, please visit the official Chowderfest 2018 website.
We can thank an area of high pressure, crawling overhead Saturday and Sunday, for the expected nice event weather. This high pressure will produce dry sinking air in the atmosphere which will inhibit rain and even cloud formation. This should come after a “nuisance-rainy” Friday (just a heads-up for vendors and setup staff). Here’s a detailed day-by-day look at the forecast for Beach Haven, NJ this Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday, September 29 “The FREE ENTRY Merchant Marketplace Day” – When the event gates open, temperatures should be in the mid-to-upper 60s. Afternoon peak temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s before the event concludes in the low-to-mid 70s. Skies should be mostly sunny with a pleasant feel. Winds should be light out of the N/NW. As nice as it will be, I recommend layering with light attire for those who normally get cold quick—only because of the transition from the current tropical air mass to how it will feel this weekend.
Sunday, September 30 “The Ticket Entry Chowderfest Contest” – Expect another morning on the cool/crisp side (recommend layering). Temperatures should eventually climb just above 70 in the afternoon before falling into the upper-60s by sunset. Skies should be mostly sunny but given the light E flow off the ocean, a few friendly clouds are possible. Humidity should remain low. Again, I recommend layering for both a cool/crisp morning and a beautiful comfortable day in the sun.
I hope everyone has a great time at Chowderfest this year! Maybe I’ll see you there. Be safe! JC
