From Cold to Mild (March 12-15)

Discussion: A broad area of high pressure will cross over the Mid-Atlantic US from NW to SE this week. Tuesday and Wednesday day look colder from the front-side of the high’s northerly flow. Thursday and Friday look milder as the high slides out to sea and kicks in a southerly return flow. On Friday a front should push periods of rain and maybe some embedded thunderstorms through NJ from W to E. This should set up a cooler but dry and sunny Saturday and Sunday.

Tuesday (Mar 12) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 40s for most. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from near-20 to near-30 NNJ to SNJ.

Wednesday (Mar 13) high temperatures should reach the upper-40s/lower-50s for most. Immediate coastal areas could hang in the mid-40s. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the S. Overnight lows should range from near-30 to near-40.

Thursday (Mar 14) high temperatures should reach into the 50s for most. Low-60s are not out of the question for interior CNJ/SNJ. Skies should transition from partly-cloudy to mostly-cloudy throughout the day. Overnight lows should range from 40 to 50 NNJ to SNJ.

Friday (Mar 15) high temperatures should reach the low-60s for most. Immediate coastal areas could hang in the 50s. Skies should be mostly cloudy with periods of rain and possibly thunderstorms. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-30s to mid-40s.

An early look at the weekend indicates settled conditions (partly-to-mostly sunny) with highs in the upper-40s/lower-50s and lows in the upper-20s/lower-30s. A final storm signal exists for the ~March 20-21 period but we’ll probably lack the cold needed for wintry precipitation. Let’s get a little closer. Everyone have a great rest of your week and please be safe! JC
