Another cool air mass is moving into the region from the northwest. The low pressure disturbance that brought last night’s storms is moving out while high pressure moves in behind a cold front. This should keep most of the week dry and cool for July standards. We’ll moderate in temperature as we get closer to the weekend but first, lets break each day down:
Today’s high temperatures should range from about 78 to 84 statewide. We’re not out of the woods yet as far as precipitation goes. The cold front is still to our west but will be moving through later today. It should be through by sunset. Rain showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms could surf the cold front to the coast. Nothing severe is expected today, just nuisance stuff. Sustained winds should be out of the SW at 10-15mph with gusts to 30mph. We’ll see those winds shift to the NW once the front is through. Overnight lows tonight should drop into the 50s. Coupled with the winds, that should feel downright chilly!
Tomorrow and Wednesday should both feel heavenly. Most high temperatures will remain in the 70s. There might be a few interior spots that reach 80 but overnight lows should drop into the 50s. Expect mostly sunny skies with light winds rocking from W/NW on Tuesday to W/SW on Wednesday. Both days should be very pleasant with lower humidity.
We’ll begin moderating on Thursday regarding warmth and humidity. Highs should reach the mid-80s but still with a pleasant feel. Winds should be about 5-10mph out of the SW before lows drop and hover around 60 overnight.
Friday should also reach the mid-80s but with increased humidity. Winds will be about 5-10mph out of the S/SE which is usually a good thunderstorm indicator. We’ll have to watch that as we get closer. Friday night should drop to into the low-60s. An early look at the weekend indicates average July weather…highs in the 80s with a mixed bag of sun, clouds and afternoon isolated showers/storms.
It’s funny because on paper we’re actually at or slightly above average in temperature this June-July. Number of 90F+ days and AC bills seem to matter more though. With that being said, this summer continues to be remembered as cool.
