Cooler Conditions
Discussion: A mostly dry frontal passage came through overnight…a few sprinkles here and there. This has lowered temps and humidity some for today. Still a beautiful day today but tonight we’ll step down colder. The upper-level disturbance I’ve been tracking for today into tomorrow seems much drier now. It’s a great weekend to check out Operation Halloween and Zombie Outbreak…the charity event I’ve been a part of for a while. It’s great family fun for all ages! So we’ll have cool and crisp NW flow for Saturday/Saturday night then SW flow for Sunday and Monday. Sunday won’t get as warm as Monday will but Monday looks cloudy with rain likely Monday into Monday night. We’re then looking at cool conditions lasting through most of next week. Friday looks like trouble with possibly a moderate strength low pressure system passing over NJ. This would likely mean rain and wind followed by a colder and slightly unsettled Halloween weekend. We’ll have to take a closer look at the trick-or-treating period early this coming week. I’m currently seeing a cold opening to November in the long range.
Friday (Oct 22) high temperatures are ranging from about 60 to 70 from N to S today. Winds should remain light out of the N. Cloud coverage should increase overnight as temps drop to near-50 for most areas.
Saturday (Oct 23) high temperatures should range from mid-50s to mid-60s from N to S…a cooler day than recent. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the NW. Overnight lows should range from upper-30s to near-50 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts (most of state down into 40s). Overnight skies should be clear and moon-lit.
Sunday (Oct 24) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 60s for most areas. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should be light out of the SW. Overnight lows should range from near-50 to near-60 from N to S.
An early look at next week indicates a warm and unsettled Monday-Monday night, a cooler and drier Tues-Thurs, followed by rain and wind Friday. Let’s take a closer look in a few days. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
