Cooler and Breezy after Tonight’s Rain
Discussion: We have a low tracking from the Great Lakes into SE Canada tonight (Thursday night). A cold front is attached to this low which should push a storm/cold front through NJ. Lightning is yet TBD but we’re at least on the hook for downpours and gusty winds. The rain should knock on WNJ’s door around 8pm, push across NJ from W to E between 8pm and 2am, then taper off for ENJ just before sunrise tomorrow (Friday) morning. There might be enough of a temp drop to finish NWNJ elevations with a wintry precip type early tomorrow morning. Other than that, we’re looking mostly dry and breezy/gusty wind-wise through Sunday. Some spotty showers possible Saturday during PM hours as a trough moves through and produces a cooler weekend then what we’ve gotten used to in the last few weeks.
Forecast
Friday (March 21) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 50s for most NJ locations. Skies should gradually improve from cloudy in the morning to sunny by late-morning/afternoon. Winds should be breezy-to-gusty out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from 30-45 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.
Saturday (March 22) high temperatures should reach near-60 for most NJ locations. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds with a few spotty showers around. Winds should be breezy out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should fall to the 25-35 range NNJ to SNJ with winds persisting.
Sunday (March 23) high temperatures should reach near-50 for most NJ locations. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Winds should finally relax out of a W direction. Overnight lows should range from 35-45 from NNJ elevations to SNJ coasts.
An early look at next week (March 24-28) indicates high temps in the 50-60 range NNJ to SNJ with a few showers around during the week, otherwise calm and fair. Have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
