Discussion: An upper-level low will influence the Mid-Atlantic US with below-average temperatures through Wednesday. NNJ elevations could fall into the 40s during this period with daytime highs struggling to escape the low-70s for most areas. It looks like Tuesday overnight should be the next period of rain after tomorrow (Monday) morning’s rain clears out. On Tuesday night we’ll have a cold front driven by the departing low and approaching high. This should bring some overnight rainfall through that should clear by late-Wednesday morning. Wednesday through Thursday and Friday then look pretty good. As of right now, Saturday looks unsettled with surface convergence. Sunday looks cool, clear and dry under the influence of the approaching Canadian high pressure subsidence.
Monday (June 4) high temperatures should range from mid-60s to mid-70s NNJ to SNJ. Any leftover AM rain should end by afternoon, if not by late-morning. Skies should transition from mostly-cloudy to partly-cloudy. Winds should be breezy out of the N/NW. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to near-60 NNJ to SNJ.
Tuesday (June 5) high temperatures should range from upper-60s to mid-70s NNJ to SNJ. Skies should be partly sunny with a small chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the W. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to near-60 NNJ to SNJ as more rainfall is possible.
Wednesday (June 6) high temperatures should reach near-70 statewide. Skies should be partly sunny with a pleasant feel after early-AM showers move out. Winds should be light out of the N. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to near-60 NNJ to SNJ.
Thursday (June 7) high temperatures should reach the mid-70s for most. Skies should be partly-to-mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should only fall into the 60s for most.
Friday (June 8) high temperatures should easily reach into the 70s statewide. I expect CNJ/SNJ locations away from the ocean to break 80. Skies should be partly sunny with noticeably-increased humidity, especially for CNJ/SNJ. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from mid-50s to mid-60s NNJ to SNJ.
An early look at the weekend indicates highs ranging from mid-70s to mid-80s. Sunday looks like the better day of the weekend right now. Saturday could be unsettled again. Let’s revisit this in a few days. Everyone have a great week and please be safe! JC
