Conditions to Improve (Aug 4-6)

We’re looking at a wet start for some but Saturday through Sunday eventually looks beautiful. Let’s break it down…

Discussion: An upper-level trough will move through the Great Lakes into SE Canada, dragging a cold front through New Jersey Saturday and ushering in a cooler air mass for Saturday evening through Sunday. The timing is so that most rain and thunderstorms should end for New Jersey by early morning for WNJ and late-morning for ENJ. Saturday through Sunday looks extremely pleasant before the humidity and thunderstorm threat returns with a warm front on Monday.

Friday (Aug 4) high temperatures should reach/break 90 away from the ocean in CNJ/SNJ. NNJ elevations and coastal regions should hang in the 80s. Skies should be partly sunny and humid for most of the day. Rain and thunderstorms are possible during afternoon/early evening hours. Winds should be light out of the S/SE. Overnight lows should struggle to fall below 70 for most areas. NNJ elevations could dip into the mid-to-upper 60s.

Saturday (Aug 5) high temperatures should break into the 80s for interior CNJ/SNJ. NNJ elevations and coastal regions should hang in the upper-70s. Skies could start out cloudy with remnant showers and isolated thunderstorms but most action should clear WNJ by 9AM and ENJ by noon. A cold front will be passing through so humidity could linger through afternoon hours until it fully pushes through. Once the front is through you will know it via reduced humidity and light NW breeze. It’s a great night to check out the Weather NJ dinner party. With that said, winds should start out light out of the W/SW in the morning and finish out of the NW heading into sunset. Overnight lows should fall into the 50s inland and 60s along the coast. Such a night!

Sunday (Aug 6) high temperatures should reach the upper-70s/lower-80s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny and pleasant. Winds should be light out of the W. Overnight lows should again fall into the 50s/60s statewide. Another amazing night!

An early look at next week indicates a rainy/stormy start on Monday. Temperatures should hold to the upper-70s/lower-80s theme with lower humidity and pleasant feel. Not seeing any major storms impacting the New Jersey area. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
