Currently there is an area of low pressure offshore and a cold front approaching from the W/NW. The coastal system looks to miss New Jersey completely but the front could bring some scattered showers this evening as it fizzles out overnight. Monday and likely the rest of the week will then be dominated by high pressure and sinking air which means beautiful fall conditions are expected. Let’s look at each day:
Monday should be mostly sunny but breezy and gusty. With the cold front through, winds will be 10-15mph out of the NW with gusts to 25mph (maybe even 30mph). It should feel very transitional which falls perfectly in-line with the first day of autumn. Highs will struggle to break 70 but should do so in lower elevations of the coastal plain. Lows should then fall into the 40s making for the coolest night we’ve felt in a while.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs ranging 65-70 and lows falling back into the 50s. Winds will still be out of the NW but only 5-10mph.
Wednesday temperatures should reach the lower-70s throughout the entire state with mostly sunny and pleasant conditions. Winds will switch to an E/NE direction at 5-10mph. Gusts to 15mph are possible along the coastal regions of SNJ. Overnight lows should then fall into the 40s and 50s.
Thursday should be a carbon copy of Wednesday regarding temperatures, pleasant feel, and mostly sunny conditions. Winds will be light but could vary by location. Coastal/SENJ should still be under the influence of onshore flow. A low pressure disturbance will be passing by out to sea. Currently high pressure looks to keep it out there. I’ll be watching it in case it shows signs of backing in under the first wave of high pressure.
Friday should be another spectacular day with mostly sunny skies and pleasant feel. Highs should reach the mid-to-upper 70s with lows falling back into the 50s (40s in NWNJ). Winds should be very light out of the W/NW. An early look at the weekend indicates more of the same beautiful weather. We’re in for a nice stretch!
