High pressure will continue to dominate for the first part of the week. That will keep temperatures above average until a frontal boundary swings through midweek and returns temperatures to seasonably average levels. A strong low pressure disturbance looks to move through the region on Friday-Saturday. It’s a bit early for details but as of now, its looking to dip down from Canada and lift out over Maine keeping NJ to the south of it. Regardless of rain vs no rain, it will be cold and windy once it lifts out. Lets look at each day of the week:
Monday should be mostly sunny with a light breeze out of the NW. Temperatures should max out in the lower 60s and fall into the 40s overnight.
Tuesday should feel quite warm with temperatures reaching well into the 70s. Light SW winds should coordinate with a partly cloudy sky before overnight temperatures fall into the 50s with rain showers possible.
Wednesday should see the most precipitation from the frontal boundary passage. Highs will still reach the upper 60s with variable clouds while its not raining. Most precipitation should be light and fall in the afternoon. Winds will be light out of the NW before overnight lows fall into the 40s.
Thursday will be dry and sunny with high pressure moving in behind the frontal passage. Highs should reach the upper 50s/lower 60s with a light NW breeze. Once the sun sets, temps will drop rapidly into the 30s (inland) and 40s (coastal areas).
Friday should feature increased cloudiness but still reach the upper 50s. Light winds will be out of the NW before overnight lows fall into the 30s and 40s again. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday really depend on the low pressure disturbance that will be passing to our north. If it passes further to the south, New Jersey could see some cold rain. If it passes further to the north, then New Jersey will drier. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this through the week and will keep you updated.
