Beautiful Week Expected (May 7-11)

Discussion: A strung out area of coastal low pressure will linger to start the week. This should present the coast with a light onshore cooling mechanism while most of interior NJ achieves higher temperatures. Once that low pressure influence moves away (by mid-week), the only possible frontal passage I see is Thursday night into Friday morning. Flow then returns to the SW for an even warmer weekend. Not much else to say. A beautiful week leading to a warm weekend…all mostly dry. Enjoy and use your head re: fire safety!

Monday (May 7) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s for most of NJ. SENJ and immediate coastal areas might be held closer to 60 via onshore flow. Skies should be partly sunny with general improvement but isolated showers are possible especially for SNJ/immediate coast. Winds should be light out of the NE. Overnight lows should fall to near-50 statewide.

Tuesday (May 8) high temperatures should reach the low-to-mid 70s for most of NJ. SENJ and immediate coastal areas should again be held closer to 60 via onshore flow. Skies should be partly sunny and dry. Winds should remain light out of the NE. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to mid-50s NNJ to SNJ.

Wednesday (May 9) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70s for most of NJ. SENJ and immediate coastal areas should be held to mid-to-upper 60s via, you guessed it, onshore flow. Skies should be partly sunny and dry. Winds should be light out of the E. Overnight lows should fall to low-50s statewide.

Thursday (May 10) high temperatures should range from mid-70s to mid-60s NNJ to SNJ. Interior CNJ/SNJ has the best shot at breaking 80. Still some marine influence to deal with for immediate coastal areas but not as pronounced as Mon-Wed. Skies should be partly sunny during the day but rainfall is possible overnight. Winds should be light out of the S. Overnight lows should fall to upper-50s/lower-60s statewide.

Friday (May 11) high temperatures should break 80 away from the ocean. A run at 90 is not out of the question. NNJ elevations and immediate coastal areas could be held to the 70s. Skies should clear to partly sunny conditions. Winds should be light-to-breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from upper-40s to upper-50s NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at the weekend indicates warm conditions. Highs generally in the 80s maybe breaking 90. 70s for immediate coastal areas. Not seeing any rain for now so also a dry looking weekend. Let’s check back in a days. Everyone have a great week and please be safe! JC
