Another Wintry Weekend Expected (Feb 20-22)

Friday should top out around 15 statewide with plenty of sunshine. Expect 10-15mph winds out of the NW with gusts to 30mph. Wind chill factors should continue to be brutal. Overnight lows then range from -5 in NWNJ to 5 in SENJ.

Saturday should reach the upper 20s and lower 30s (NWNJ to SENJ) with increasing clouds and snowfall. Winds will be stiff out of the S/SW. Snow should eventually changeover to rain from SE to NW after sunset and through overnight as temperatures warm. A period of sleet and/or freezing rain is possible during this transition.

Sunday should start wet. It might still be snowing for some but the snow/ice/rain line will be moving north and likely well into NNJ by sunrise. High temperatures should reach the low to mid-40s. Eventually, winds will switch to the NW again as temperatures drop into the teens. Whatever doesn’t evaporate by sundown will likely freeze making for a possible icy Monday AM commute.

An early look at next week indicates more of the brutal cold for Monday-Tuesday and a possible snow storm Wednesday-Thursday.
