Mild and Breezy

Discussion: The foreseeable upper-level pattern indicates alternating ridging and zonal flows. At the lower levels this means sustained spring warmth. Expect a hotter day Saturday (tomorrow) followed by Sunday-Monday in the 60s. But after that it looks like every day will take a run at 70 next week and beyond. We’re likely over the hump of the colder spring conditions. That’s not to say that frosts can’t happen overnight here and there. But days will be beautiful and we’ll deal with routing spring showers/boomers accordingly.

Forecast

Friday (April 18) high temperatures are maxing in the 70s away from the ocean, 60s just inland, and 50s right along the immediate ECNJ/SENJ coast. Marine influence! Skies should remain mixed with breezy winds out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should fall back into the low-to-mid 50s for most NJ areas as breezy/gusty winds persist into Saturday morning.

Saturday (April 19) high temperatures should reach/just break 80 for most NJ areas away from the ocean. Immediate ECNJ/SENJ coastal areas should reach the 70s. Skies should be mixed with sun and clouds. Expect pollen to break out. Winds should remain breezy out of the S/SW. Overnight lows should range from 50-60 NNJ to SNJ. Can’t rule out an overnight shower, especially for NNJ/CNJ.

Sunday (April 20) high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 60s for most NJ locations. Skies should start cloudy and improve by afternoon. Not expecting rain though. Winds should be light, occasionally breezy, out of the NW. Overnight lows should fall back to the 40-50 range NNJ to SNJ.

An early look at next week (April 21-25) indicates sustained warmth with highs reaching 70 every day, give or take a few degrees in either direction. 75 inland, 65 along coast. You know the drill. Everyone have a great weekend and please be safe! JC
