Mixed Weather Expected (Oct 26-30)
Patricia was absolutely destroyed by the elevations of Mexico. Her remnants should now move over the northern gulf states and lift up into Canada by way of phase and upper-level capture. This should bring a trough down over the region which would, in theory, bring another transient period of cold northerly flow to our region by the weekend. Until then, temperatures should remain pretty normal and even mild with some mid-week rainfall. Let’s break it down:
Monday high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the N/NE. Overnight lows should range from 20s for NNJ elevations to 40s along the immediate coast (30s for most of New Jersey).
Tuesday high temperatures should reach the upper-50s/lower-60s statewide. Skies should start sunny but increase in cloud coverage throughout the day. Winds should be light out of the E/NE. Overnight lows should range from lower-40s for NNJ Elevations to lower-50s along the immediate coast.
Wednesday high temperatures should range in the 60s statewide. Skies should be mostly cloudy with moderate rainfall possible. Winds should be breezy-to-gusty out of the SE, especially along the coast (lesser for inland/elevations). Rainfall could continue overnight with lows dropping into the 50s for most of New Jersey.
Thursday high temperatures should range from the mid-60s for most to possibly even the lower 70s along the coastal plain. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be light out of the W/SW. Overnight lows should fall into the 40s (most of New Jersey) and 50s (coastal regions).
Friday high temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 50s statewide. Skies should be mostly sunny. Winds should be breezy out of the W/NW. Overnight lows should range from 20s for NNJ elevations to 40s along the immediate coast (30s for most of New Jersey).
An early look at the weekend indicates more dry and sunny, beautiful but cool, fall weather. Let’s revisit this mid-week to get a better handle on Halloween Weekend once guidance transitions from mid-to-short range.
