Cold and Sunny Weekend Expected (Nov 14-16)
The expected cold air mass has settled over the region and will be here through Sunday. Skies will be dry and mostly sunny despite the nasty wind chill factor out of the NW. More snow is possible on Monday for interior regions, especially higher elevations. Let’s take it day by day:
Friday high temperatures will top out in the low 40s for most of the state. There will be plenty of sunshine and 5-15mph winds out of the NW (gusts to 25). Overnight lows should drop below freezing —well into the 20s
Saturday looks like a carbon copy of Friday. Mostly sunny skies, highs in the low 40s, breezy NW winds, and overnight lows dropping below freezing again.
Sunday should top out in the upper 40s/lower 50s with a wind shift to the SW (5-10mph sustained and gusts to 15mph). That should also bring a mixed bag of sun and clouds before overnight lows drop into the low-to-mid 30s. Skies should continue to cloud up overnight in advance of precipitation early next week.
I’m currently monitoring a low pressure disturbance that should run up the coast in the Monday-Tuesday period. As of right now it looks like rain for coastal regions and snow for interior/higher elevations. Once that clears, an air mass even colder than present will move in behind. I’ll have a solid analysis on such posted tomorrow morning.
